Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Events Malta (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit eventsmalta.com (the “Website”). We respect your privacy and handle personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the laws of Malta.

If you have any questions about this policy or your personal data, contact us at contact@eventsmalta.com.

1. Who we are

Events Malta is an independent website that lists upcoming events in Malta and Gozo and publishes travel guides. For the purposes of data protection law, Events Malta is the data controller for personal data collected through this Website. You can reach us at contact@eventsmalta.com.

2. What information we collect

Information you give us

  • Emails: if you email us, we receive your email address, name (if you include it) and the content of your message.
  • Comments: if you leave a comment on a post, we collect the name, email address and website (optional) you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and browser information to help detect spam. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics: with your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Website, such as which pages are visited, how long people stay, the type of device and browser, and approximate location (country or city). This information is collected using cookies and is not used to identify you personally.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as IP address, browser type and the date and time of your visit, for security and to keep the Website running.

3. How we use your information

  • To reply to your messages and event submissions
  • To publish and moderate comments
  • To understand how the Website is used and improve our content
  • To keep the Website secure and prevent spam and abuse
  • To meet our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.

4. Legal basis for processing

  • Consent: for analytics cookies and, in future, advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings on the Website.
  • Legitimate interests: to run, secure and improve the Website and to respond to messages.
  • Legal obligation: where we must keep or share information by law.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:

  • Necessary cookies: needed for the Website to work, for example to remember your cookie choices. These don’t require consent.
  • Analytics cookies: set by Google Analytics, only if you accept them.
  • Advertising cookies: we may show ads in the future, for example through Google AdSense. If we do, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, but only with your consent where required. We will update this policy before advertising starts.

You can change your cookie choices at any time using the cookie settings link on the Website, and you can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. To learn how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

6. Third-party services

We use trusted third-party services that may process personal data on our behalf:

  • Hostinger: website hosting
  • Google (Analytics, Search Console, Site Kit): website statistics and search performance
  • Google Maps: event pages may show embedded maps, which load content from Google

Some of these providers may transfer data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, they use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Links to other websites

Our event listings and guides link to official event, venue and ticketing websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, so please read their privacy policies.

8. How long we keep your data

  • Emails: as long as needed to deal with your message, and no longer than two years
  • Comments: as long as the comment is published on the Website
  • Analytics data: according to Google Analytics retention settings, up to 14 months

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct or delete your data
  • Restrict or object to how we use your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@eventsmalta.com. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) in Malta at idpc.org.mt.

10. Children

This Website is not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including a secure (HTTPS) connection. No website can be completely secure, though, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new services. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
