BirguFest is one of Malta’s best-loved autumn traditions. For two evenings the old harbour city of Birgu (Vittoriosa) fills with live music, re-enactments, food stalls and open museums.
The highlight is Saturday night, Birgu by Candlelight, when the street lights are switched off and thousands of candles light the narrow medieval streets.
Tip: the ferry from Valletta to the Three Cities is the easiest way in, as parking in Birgu is very limited on festival nights.
